Space42, an AI-powered spacetech company in the UAE, will provide high-definition LiDAR mapping for General Motors’ Super Cruise ADAS. Moreover, the work follows a long-term agreement with Dynamic Map Platform North America (DMP), a subsidiary of Japan’s Dynamic Map Platform Company. DMP will process Space42’s LiDAR point cloud data into customized HD map layers for GM, which will enable hands-free driving across the UAE.
Partnership and Data Workflow
Space42 will collect LiDAR and survey data across the main UAE roads, and DMP will convert those scans into lane-level map features. Additionally, frequent resurveys will capture construction and upgrades, so maps remain current. The processed datasets will be formatted to meet GM’s Super Cruise requirements, and DMP will handle processing on Azure Sovereign Cloud. Consequently, the data will stay secure, compliant, and under UAE jurisdiction through role-based access controls and private endpoints.
Technical Impact and Deployment
The LiDAR-derived maps provide lane markings, curvature, and elevation details, thus enabling precise positioning and smoother lane changes. Furthermore, integration with the Sovereign Mobility Cloud ensures smooth incorporation into vehicle systems. As a result, Super Cruise can extend its hands-free driving capabilities across more roads in the UAE. In addition, the collaboration lays the groundwork for proven ADAS and future autonomous driving deployments within the region.
