Google has introduced an experimental Windows app designed to help users find information faster. With a simple Alt + Space shortcut, people can instantly search their computer files, installed apps, cloud storage, and the web. The search tool works much like Spotlight on Mac, giving users a central place to locate almost anything.
Features for Smarter and Faster Searches
The app comes with Google Lens built in, allowing users to select and search anything visible on their screen. This feature makes it possible to quickly translate text, analyze images, or even solve math problems. Users can also switch into AI Mode, where the search tool provides deeper, more detailed responses to complex or multi-step questions.
In addition to AI Mode, the app offers tabs for results across various categories, including images, videos, shopping, and more. To enhance usability, a dark mode option is also available.
Availability and Requirements
The new search app is currently available for testing through Search Labs. Currently, it supports English and is limited to users in the United States. To run the app, a computer must be using Windows 10 or later.
