Innovation Centre at DEWA Opens its New Batch for Solar Energy

Innovation centre by DEWA opens new batch

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s Innovation Centre is now accepting applications for the fourth batch of the ‘Integrated Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System Designer’ training program. This training focuses on solar PV systems and plants, covering design methods, installation, testing, maintenance, and project evaluation. Organized in collaboration with TUV Rheinland Academy, the program also aims to develop technical competencies in solar and renewable energy.

Participants who complete the training and pass the final test will receive professional certificates in solar energy system design and installation. The training is also a part of a collaborative effort involving the Innovation Centre, TUV Rheinland Academy, and various local and international universities and academic institutions. Additionally, this collaboration fosters an advanced knowledge and scientific environment, reinforcing the centre’s position as a global hub for innovation in renewable and clean energy.

The centre serves as a key platform for enhancing professional competencies and technical expertise. It proves to be the cornerstone of sustainability, energy efficiency, and clean and renewable energy. The training equips participants with the necessary information and tools to become the next generation of sustainability leaders. This aligns with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 by DEWA. It aims for 100% of Dubai’s power production capacity to come from clean energy sources by 2050.

The previous three rounds of the training received 120 applications and saw 65 pupils pass. The fourth batch will commence in July 2024. Further, the decided venue for the batch is the Innovation Centre in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The training covers the principles of the Photovoltaic (PV) System, Standard IEC 60364-7-712 for electrical installations and protection. It also includes the Standard IEC 62446 for testing, documentation, and maintenance of PV systems. Participants will also learn about PV Plant Design, economic evaluation, and PV system sizing for on-grid and off-grid systems.
