The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) organized three sessions at the UAE Climate Tech forum, focusing on promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in green technology and climate action. These sessions aimed to contribute to the country’s climate neutrality targets and align with the upcoming COP28 event at Expo Dubai in November.
Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, highlighted MoIAT’s commitment to developing an industrial sector driven by advanced technology, research and development, and sustainability. The ministry aims to support the UAE’s climate neutrality targets and promote sustainable economic and industrial growth.
The UAE has adopted a practical approach to decarbonization, creating an enabling environment through policies, financing, technology, and partnerships at all levels of the value chain. The UAE Climate Tech forum serves as a platform to accelerate game-changing climate tech solutions and showcases the country’s efforts to become a global hub for sustainable industries and advanced technology.
MoIAT encouraged entrepreneurs, innovators, and technology startups to participate in COP28 and explore investment opportunities in climate action financing offered by the UAE. The sessions at UAE Climate Tech highlighted success stories in green technology entrepreneurship, emphasized the supportive ecosystem in the UAE, and discussed incentives and enablers for technology companies, entrepreneurs, and investors.
The first session, in partnership with the COP28 team, focused on the Technology and Entrepreneurship Program, promoting innovation and technology globally for a climate-neutral world. It showcased technologies, facilitated partnerships, and discussed priorities for energy transition and decarbonization.
Two roundtable sessions, titled ‘Climate Technology Exchange’, featured climate technology startups, representatives from government entities, and organizations such as Emirates Development Bank, ADNOC, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and more. These roundtables discussed the UAE’s ecosystem for enabling climate technology startups through incubation programs, financing, and partnerships.
The third session, in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), focused on boosting private-sector partnerships for climate action. It highlighted the industrial sector’s role in providing innovative technological solutions for energy transition and decarbonization, with discussions on decarbonizing heavy industries and the importance of advanced technologies, financing, and policies.
Overall, MoIAT’s sessions at the UAE Climate Tech forum aimed to support entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology in the green tech sector, aligning with the UAE’s sustainability goals and preparations for hosting COP28.
