Google has issued a warning regarding the use of hallucinating chatbots

Prabhakar Raghavan, the Senior Vice President at Google and the head of Google Search, has warned about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence in chatbots in a recent interview. Raghavan stated that the use of AI in chatbots can lead to a phenomenon known as “hallucination,” where the machine provides a convincing but fake answer. He emphasized the importance of minimizing this occurrence and keeping it under control.

Google has been facing competition from OpenAI, a startup backed by Microsoft with an investment of around $10 billion, which recently launched ChatGPT. ChatGPT has received praise for its highly human-like responses to user queries.

In an effort to compete, Alphabet Inc. introduced its own chatbot, Bard, earlier this week. However, the company suffered a setback when the software shared incorrect information in a promotional video, causing Alphabet to lose $100 billion in market value. The company is still testing Bard with users and has not yet announced when the app will be made publicly available.
