MWC22 Barcelona to involve top tech industry players in the mobile ecosystem

It is true that from 5G Connect, Internet of Everything, and CloudNet to advancements in AI, FinTech, and highlighting tech in high growth verticals, MWC22 Barcelona – the world’s largest event for decision-makers in the mobile ecosystem – returns to the Fira Gran Via in Barcelona from 28 February to 3 March.

Under the theme ‘Connectivity Unleashed’, the event will welcome more than 1000 speakers, 1500+ exhibitors, 37 country pavilions, and will witness the reveal of Industry City, a new exhibit featuring a content zone to showcase how industries, such as fintech, manufacturing and mobility, are converging to reinvent how business gets done.

This year’s edition will also feature the Ministerial Programme for policymakers and industry leaders, start-up innovation at 4YFN (Four Years From Now), and discussions around diversity and inclusion at Diversity4Tech.

“We’re looking forward to spirited discussions, powerful keynotes, and seeing the very best of innovation at MWC22. This year you will hear from many industry leaders with one thing in common. Mobile technology is driving their transformation,” said John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA.

“To continue on this transformation journey, they will use this week to collaborate, share insights, accelerate real change and conduct business. The event is truly global with more than 150 countries represented – there is potential everywhere,” he added.

Intelligent connectivity continues to play a transformational role across many industries, with 5G set to enable 60 million connections in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region by 2025, according to a new report by GSMA.

The event will welcome leaders from various industries, including government, finance, football, and for the first time, digital art and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Sotheby’s CEO, Charles Stewart, is set to speak about how the convergence of the physical and digital worlds is creating new opportunities for the 277-year-old company.

The GSMA Ministerial Programme will also be host to over 140 delegations, from ministers and policymakers to industry leaders, who will discuss closing the digital gap, meeting global climate targets, building policies for a digital world, and maximising the potential of 5G.

To conclude, MWC’s start-up business platform4YFN will return for the second year, in which over 500 international start-ups and over 300 speakers will convene to share insights on how to drive the ecosystem forward. With more than €4 billion of potential investment available at this year’s event, 200 start-ups will pitch to leading funds, VCs, and CVCs.
