ZTE and GO Telecom conduct long-distance 5G trial

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, August 22, 2025 – ZTE Corporation and GO Telecom have successfully completed Saudi Arabia’s first long-distance 5G-Advanced (5G-A) millimeter-wave (mmWave) trial. The test achieved coverage of six kilometers in the 26 GHz frequency band. Moreover, the outdoor field trial demonstrated nearly 1 Gbps downlink speeds using 200 MHz bandwidth, setting a new benchmark for high-capacity last-mile connectivity in the Kingdom.

This milestone highlights the transformative potential of 5G-A mmWave technology. It delivers fiber-like speeds, ultra-low latency, and high-capacity connections. Consequently, industries such as smart stadiums, industrial automation, healthcare, logistics, transportation, smart agriculture, and critical infrastructure stand to benefit. GO Telecom also plans to use the technology for enterprise-grade Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), enabling fiber-quality connectivity in areas where laying fiber is difficult.

Advancing Saudi Vision 2030

The trial strengthens GO Telecom’s ability to support Saudi Vision 2030. By advancing digital transformation and enterprise innovation through private 5G-A networks, the solution allows real-time data processing, AI-powered automation, and seamless cloud integration. As a result, GO Telecom positions itself as a frontrunner in next-generation enterprise connectivity.

Sun Xuezhi, CEO of ZTE Saudi Arabia, said: “This successful trial with GO Telecom demonstrates our shared commitment to advancing Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation under Vision 2030. Together, we’re unlocking new possibilities for enterprise connectivity across the Kingdom.”
