Xiaomi Unveils Sports Walkie Talkie with 5,000 km Range for Outdoor Enthusiasts
Xiaomi has announced the Sports Walkie Talkie, a versatile communication device tailored for outdoor sports like skiing, cycling, and hiking. Set to debut in China, the gadget offers a remarkable 5,000 km (~3,107 miles) communication range, leveraging support for multiple 4G networks.
The Sports Walkie Talkie supports both one-to-one and one-to-many communications, along with voice calls. Equipped with advanced noise reduction technology, it ensures clear communication even while skiing at speeds up to 60 kph (~37 mph) or cycling at 40 kph (~25 mph). Users can manage settings through an accompanying app, which allows for group setup, shared location viewing, and an alarm feature to locate the device if misplaced.
Additional features include an integrated display that shows the device’s status and battery level, and Bluetooth connectivity that enables simultaneous music playback and conversations. The walkie-talkie’s 1,030 mAh battery provides up to 24 hours of continuous usage or 36 hours on standby. Compact and designed for extreme conditions, the device operates in temperatures as low as -30°C (~-22°F).
Available with various magnetic straps and clips, the Sports Walkie Talkie can be attached to helmets, jackets, or worn on a lanyard. Priced at CNY 399 (~$55), it will launch in China on January 6th. Its availability in other markets remains uncertain, though Xiaomi’s other products like the Portable Electric Air Compressor are already available globally.
