Uber Eats Integrates AI into Menus, Photos, and Reviews

Uber Eats app and food delivery in action

Uber Eats is introducing generative AI across its platform to improve how restaurants present their offerings and interact with customers. The new tools focus on enhancing menu descriptions, food photos, and review summaries, aiming to create a more engaging and informative user experience.

With AI-generated text, menu items now feature more detailed and appealing descriptions. In addition, review summaries are automatically created to highlight customer feedback, helping restaurants identify areas for improvement more efficiently. These features streamline the browsing process for users while offering businesses smarter ways to communicate their value.

AI-Improved Food Images and Customer Uploads

In an effort to upgrade visual content, Uber Eats is also using AI to enhance low-quality food photos. The system adjusts lighting, sharpens resolution, and reframes shots. In some cases, it digitally re-plates food to improve presentation. For items lacking any images, customers can upload their own photos during the review process.

This image upload feature is being rolled out globally. In select countries such as the US, UK, Canada, and Mexico, users whose photos are published may receive Uber in-app credits. While not all submissions will be published, the incentive encourages more contributions and may lead to a richer browsing experience for others.

Real-Time Communication With Live Order Chat

To improve order accuracy and customer satisfaction, Uber Eats is launching a Live Order Chat feature. This allows businesses to reach out to customers in real time once an order is placed. Through this channel, restaurants can confirm special requests, address dietary concerns, or suggest alternatives for unavailable items.

This new communication tool helps reduce errors and enhances transparency. Combined with user-uploaded photos and AI-curated content, the entire ordering experience becomes more tailored and responsive. However, the effectiveness of these tools will become clearer as they see broader implementation across the platform.
