Their discussions focused on artificial intelligence, data centres, and the role of clean energy in driving global innovation. Musk emphasised that affordable, sustainable energy will determine how nations harness future technologies. Al Hamed underlined the UAE’s strengths in low-cost clean energy and advanced infrastructure, noting the country’s readiness to lead in the global AI race.
Musk praised the UAE’s early investments in AI and clean technology, crediting its leadership with creating a forward-looking strategy. Both leaders highlighted the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan in positioning the UAE as a hub for advanced technology.
Robotics, AI Ethics, and Grok 5
During the visit, Musk showcased Tesla’s Optimus robotics lab, stressing that robotics has shifted from concept to reality. The talks also addressed the importance of balancing innovation with regulation, as both sides agreed on creating global frameworks for ethical AI in media.
The conversation extended to Musk’s upcoming AI model, Grok 5, described as “more powerful, curious, and adaptive” than previous versions. Musk said it will align closely with human creativity, while Al Hamed reiterated that AI must evolve into a true strategic partner enhancing media content and supporting broader development goals.
Building Partnerships Ahead of BRIDGE Summit
The leaders explored cooperation in areas such as AI media labs, educational content for youth, and sustainability initiatives linking technology with storytelling. Musk also highlighted Starlink’s role in boosting digital connectivity across the Middle East and Africa. Plans for a new AI centre were also revealed, signalling a major shift in future technological development.
Al Hamed invited Musk to the BRIDGE Summit in Abu Dhabi this December, describing it as a platform for bold ideas and unconventional solutions in media. He stressed that collaboration among governments, media, and business leaders is essential to reshape the industry. With contributions from global innovators, the summit aims to redefine media as a driver of development, trust, and shared human progress.
