The new facility spans 70,000 square feet and, as a result, stands as the UAE’s most advanced standalone diagnostic lab. Moreover, it is designed to transform diagnostics through AI-enabled automation, real-time quality management, and seamless integration with more than 140 laboratories holding over 50 global accreditations.
The seven-storey laboratory can process over 30 million samples annually, while it also includes capacity for future expansion. Consequently, it is positioned to meet rising national demand for next-generation diagnostic services. The facility was officially inaugurated in the presence of senior health officials and industry leaders, highlighting its strategic role in strengthening the national healthcare ecosystem.
Advanced capabilities and clinical expertise
Operating around the clock, the laboratory sets a new benchmark in diagnostic excellence. It utilizes artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced automation systems, and energy-efficient infrastructure, thereby establishing itself as the most technologically advanced diagnostic center in the UAE. In addition, it offers more than 1,800 test parameters across specialties ranging from anatomic pathology and molecular genetics to infectious disease detection and environmental testing.
A multidisciplinary team of 1,300 expert consultants supports daily operations and brings extensive experience in clinical practice and laboratory management. As a result, the center follows a clinician- and patient-centered model focused on diagnostic accuracy, clinical relevance, and strict data confidentiality. Furthermore, the facility serves as a core national hub for essential health programs, including newborn screening, infectious disease monitoring, and transplant compatibility.
Digital pathology, sustainability, and nationwide reach
At the heart of the facility’s innovation is an AI-enabled digital pathology platform using Whole Slide Imaging to convert traditional slides into high-resolution digital formats. Consequently, clinicians benefit from faster analysis and AI-assisted detection of disease markers and abnormalities. As the national hub for the Digital Pathology Initiative, the lab connects oncology centers across the UAE, enabling real-time remote slide viewing, virtual diagnostics, and quicker clinical decision-making.
Alongside advanced diagnostics, the facility aligns with the UAE’s net-zero strategy. Therefore, it incorporates sustainability measures such as a hybrid transport fleet, paperless digital reporting, energy-efficient window films, and rooftop solar panels. Built for centralized efficiency, the lab allows healthcare providers nationwide to submit tests through a unified, cost-effective platform. Additionally, it extends services through walk-in diagnostics and home-testing pilot programs, reinforcing a patient-centric and data-driven approach to future healthcare.
