UAE Launches Tahweel Digital Marketplace

Officials signing Tahweel partnership.

The UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has launched Tahweel, the country’s first fully integrated digital marketplace for recyclable materials. The unveiling took place at BEEAH’s headquarters during the fourth meeting of the UAE Council for Environmental and Municipal Work. Developed in partnership with BEEAH Group, the platform supports the “We the UAE 2031” vision, aiming to reduce landfill use, enhance recycling, and boost the circular economy.

Features Driving the Circular Economy

Tahweel is powered by re.life’s digital system, offering businesses with trade licences direct access to buy and sell recyclables. The platform supports materials such as plastics, metals, paper, glass, wood, rubber, and e-waste. Moreover, it includes advanced trading features like timed auctions, partial auctions, and instant trades. By removing intermediaries, the marketplace ensures efficiency, transparency, and fair pricing, which further enhances competitiveness in the recycling sector.

Supporting National Sustainability Goals

The initiative contributes to the government’s Zero Bureaucracy program by simplifying waste transactions while also boosting economic opportunities. Additionally, MOCCAE and BEEAH are collaborating with local waste authorities to raise awareness and provide training. Through these measures, Tahweel is set to become a cornerstone of the UAE’s sustainable development and innovation agenda, reinforcing the country’s leadership in environmental stewardship.
