His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, met with His Excellency Lee Jae-myung, President of South Korea, in Gyeongju on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum. During the meeting, both leaders discussed ways to enhance their countries’ strategic partnership and expand collaboration in vital sectors.
Sheikh Khaled conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, along with best wishes for continued prosperity for South Korea and its people. In turn, President Lee Jae-myung extended his greetings to the UAE President, expressing hopes for further progress and enduring friendship between both nations.
Expanding Strategic Cooperation Across Key Sectors
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in clean and renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and advanced technologies. Both sides emphasized that such collaboration will drive sustainable development and shared economic prosperity. Sheikh Khaled reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to deepening ties with South Korea and to supporting joint efforts that foster long-term growth.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Saeed bin Mubarak Al Hajeri, Saif Saeed Ghobash, Maryam Eid AlMheiri, and Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi. Their participation underscored the importance of continued dialogue and coordination to strengthen strategic cooperation and exchange expertise across critical industries.

Sheikh Khaled also met with Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand, during the APEC forum. The Crown Prince’s participation in the APEC forum reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to global economic engagement. The event, established in 1989, gathers leaders from 21 member economies to promote free trade, regional integration, and sustainable development. Representing nearly 40 percent of the world’s population and about 60 percent of global GDP, APEC serves as a vital platform for addressing shared challenges and advancing regional prosperity.
