New Delhi: Twitter modified one of its tweets that had “Last Edited” at the bottom of the message to demonstrate the soon-to-arrive Edit Button on its own platform. People may view the original tweet and the preceding edit history by clicking “Last Edited” on a tweet that has been edited by Twitter.
“Hello. this is a test to make sure the edit button works, we’ll let you know how it goes,” the micro-blogging platform posted. Earlier this month, the company announced that the ability to edit tweets would be available to Twitter Blue subscribers “later this month”.
Twitter Blue subscriptions are paid on a monthly basis, and priced regionally based on the current US price of $4.99. Edit Tweet lets people make changes to their tweet after it’s been published.
“Think of it as a short period of time to do things like fix typos, add missed tags, and more,” according to Twitter. During the test, tweets will be able to be edited a few times in the 30 minutes following their publication.
Edited tweets will display an icon, timestamp, and label so readers can tell the difference between the original tweet and the edited one. Viewers may access previous iterations of the tweet by tapping the label, which will lead them to its Edit History.
The business added, “We’ll also be closely observing how the functionality effects how users read, compose, and engage with tweets.”
