Launched by Hussain Mohamed Al Mahmoudi, CEO of the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTI Park), the solar-powered electric car was created by the Dutch company Lightyear. According to Al Mahmoudi, the firm initially created 500 units of its first edition, “Lightyear O,” and the majority of them have already been sold out.

Other variants are being produced by the business. The other model, called Lightyear 2, would be available for between $30,000 and $35,000 and will be shortly launched here, he added following the unveiling of the first model on Thursday in Sharjah.
According to the company’s website, Lightyear 2 will be released in 2024–2025 at a competitive price.
