STC Group Launches MB² Microwave Solution
STC Group and Huawei have unveiled the world’s first MB² microwave solution, introducing a new wireless backhaul technology designed to meet the growing capacity demands of 5G and future 5G-Advanced networks. The deployment marks another milestone in the long-standing partnership between the two companies as Saudi Arabia continues expanding its digital infrastructure.
The MB² solution combines multiple microwave technologies into a single transmission platform to deliver significantly higher bandwidth while reducing spectrum consumption and tower requirements. As a result, operators can expand network capacity without the cost and complexity of deploying additional fiber infrastructure.
Designed for next-generation mobile backhaul
The new microwave solution addresses the increasing traffic generated by AI applications, cloud services, and 5G connectivity. Moreover, it supports ultra-high-capacity wireless transmission for suburban, rural, and hard-to-reach locations where fiber deployment remains challenging.
Huawei says the MB² architecture improves spectrum efficiency while simplifying network deployment through integrated microwave technologies. Consequently, operators can increase backhaul performance, reduce equipment requirements, and improve overall network reliability.
The announcement builds on earlier innovations from STC Group and Huawei, including Saudi Arabia’s first Full Duplex microwave deployment and previous SuperLink commercial deployments that increased transmission capacity while reducing antenna and hardware requirements.

The launch aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy to strengthen digital infrastructure and accelerate nationwide 5G adoption. Furthermore, STC Group continues to collaborate with Huawei on network modernization projects spanning microwave transmission, autonomous network operations, and cloud infrastructure.
