In a major move for artificial intelligence development, six global technology giants—G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, SoftBank Group, and Cisco—have joined forces to launch Stargate UAE, a next-generation AI infrastructure cluster in Abu Dhabi. This initiative marks a significant leap in international AI collaboration and infrastructure innovation.
Set within the newly established UAE–US AI Campus, Stargate UAE will operate as a 1-gigawatt computing powerhouse. The broader campus will span 10 square miles, making it the largest AI deployment of its kind outside the United States. Backed by a 5-gigawatt data center capacity, the facility will run on a combination of nuclear, solar, and natural gas to reduce environmental impact.
OpenAI and Oracle will operate the Stargate cluster, while NVIDIA contributes its cutting-edge Grace Blackwell GB300 systems. Additionally, Cisco will provide secure, AI-ready connectivity, and SoftBank Group will play a strategic investment role. The first 200-megawatt segment is scheduled to go live in 2026, ushering in an era of low-latency inferencing and nation-scale computing.
Driving Innovation and International Cooperation
Stargate UAE is designed to accelerate scientific breakthroughs and spur innovation across key sectors such as healthcare, finance, energy, and transportation. This bold endeavor also strengthens ties between the UAE and the US under the “US-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership,” a newly signed framework aimed at promoting safe, responsible AI development.
Furthermore, the UAE will increase its investment in digital infrastructure projects in the US, including Stargate US, in line with America’s “First Investment Policy.” This reciprocal model fosters a balanced exchange of technology, talent, and capital, benefiting both nations.
The UAE–US AI Campus will not only host Stargate UAE but also support a science park to cultivate sustainable computing, develop talent, and nurture groundbreaking research.
Industry Leaders Speak on the Vision
Executives from the partnering organizations expressed a shared commitment to responsible innovation. Peng Xiao, CEO of G42, emphasized the goal of creating a trusted AI foundation that benefits societies worldwide. Sam Altman of OpenAI highlighted Stargate UAE as a cornerstone of the “OpenAI for Countries” initiative, aiming to democratize AI breakthroughs.
Similarly, Oracle’s Larry Ellison spoke of enabling sovereign digital transformation, while NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang called AI “the most transformative force of our time.” Masayoshi Son of SoftBank echoed the sentiment, calling the UAE’s involvement a proof of the global scale of the Stargate vision. Lastly, Cisco’s Chuck Robbins noted the importance of secure, energy-efficient AI networking to turn intelligence into real-world impact.
Through this collaborative effort, Stargate UAE not only advances AI infrastructure but also sets a precedent for global partnerships shaping the future of technology.
