SpaceX is being considered for investment by investors from Saudi Arabia and the UAE

In a report released by The Information, it was revealed that a unit of Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund and a company based in Abu Dhabi is in discussions to invest in SpaceX, the space exploration company founded by tech billionaire Elon Musk. According to sources familiar with the matter, this investment round is expected to be worth several billion dollars and could result in a valuation of approximately $140 billion for SpaceX.

While the specific investment amounts have not been disclosed, SpaceX has previously secured significant funding, raising $2 billion in 2022 and $2.6 billion in 2020, according to data from Space Capital, a venture capital firm. Morgan Stanley is said to be assisting with the funding round and has reportedly shared information about the involvement of Saudi Arabia’s Water and Electricity Holding Company, which is part of the country’s sovereign wealth fund, and Abu Dhabi-based Alpha Dhabi.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation from SpaceX, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, or Alpha Dhabi regarding this investment. It is worth noting, however, that both the Saudi and UAE governments have previously demonstrated a keen interest in space exploration, with Saudi Arabia launching its first satellite in 2019 and the UAE launching its own Mars mission in 2021.
