Space42 and Leonardo DRS Boost UAE Secure Satellite Defence Capabilities

Space42 secure satellite systems partnership

Space42 and Leonardo DRS have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore advanced mission systems and secure satellite connectivity for UAE national security capabilities.

Under the agreement, Leonardo DRS will contribute expertise in C5ISR mission systems, while Space42 will provide secure AI-enabled satellite communications and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) connectivity. Additionally, both organizations will explore the design and integration of advanced mission capabilities tailored to the UAE.

Strategic security collaboration

The partnership comes as national security operations become increasingly interconnected and reliant on secure communications, integrated mission systems, and real-time situational awareness.

Furthermore, the collaboration aims to combine advanced mission technologies with secure satellite connectivity to support resilient security networks. By integrating space-based communications with operational systems, the initiative will help address evolving security requirements.

Integrated defence capabilities

Leonardo DRS brings capabilities in C5ISR technologies, mission management systems, network computing, and vehicle integration. Additionally, its portfolio includes tactical computing, smart displays, AI-enabled processing, and integrated C4/C5/C6ISR solutions designed to provide situational awareness in complex operational environments.

Meanwhile, Space42 strengthens these capabilities through sovereign satellite communications and space services. As a result, secure connectivity can extend beyond traditional terrestrial networks, supporting reliable communication across diverse operational scenarios.

Furthermore, both organizations will explore ways to integrate satellite-enabled connectivity with advanced mission systems. Therefore, the collaboration represents a step toward developing secure, mission-ready capabilities for future UAE national security needs.
