Samsung Unveils Flex Titanium Display for Galaxy Z Fold 8

Samsung Flex Titanium foldable display

Samsung has unveiled Flex Titanium, a new foldable display technology designed to improve durability while reducing the screen crease found on foldable smartphones. The announcement comes just over a week before the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22 in London. As a result, the technology is expected to become one of the biggest highlights of Samsung’s next-generation foldable lineup.

Flex Titanium Enhances Strength and Durability

Flex Titanium uses two titanium-based layers within the display structure to strengthen the foldable screen. First, a titanium-alloy film sits beneath the OLED panel, providing 20 times greater mechanical stiffness than conventional plastic films while remaining thinner than 30% of the thickness of a human hair. In addition, Samsung has integrated a second titanium component into the hinge mechanism. Consequently, these upgrades help reduce the visibility of the display crease and extend the screen’s folding lifespan.

Samsung will introduce the new technology with the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Furthermore, the company plans to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 during the July 22 Galaxy Unpacked event. Pre-orders are expected to begin immediately after the keynote, while retail sales are scheduled to start in early August.

Local Support Builds Ahead of Launch

The upcoming launch has also generated excitement in Gumi, South Korea, a city known for its close ties to Samsung’s electronics manufacturing. Local businesses and residents have organized as Galaxy Ambassadors to celebrate the new product lineup. Additionally, the city plans to host the 2026 Galaxy Launch Festa with Gumi on August 5, highlighting its long-standing connection to Korea’s electronics industry.
