With its own platform, Samsung Securities might soon go up against the biggest cryptocurrency exchanges. The platform could debut as early as the first half of 2023. According to reports, the South Korean technological behemoth has already begun the paperwork for the anticipated launch. It follows a failed attempt to launch a trading platform in 2021 due to a lack of funding at the time.
Samsung isn’t the only firm aiming to break into this market, multiple others in South Korea have also been reported to venture into crypto exchanges – at least seven other companies, according to local media reports.
The increased interest in crypto exchange platforms comes after the new South Korean president, Yoon Suk-Yeol, expressed a pro-regulation stance on the industry.
Samsung already offers a blockchain wallet for Galaxy devices.
