An upgraded version of the nol Pay app has been introduced with a refreshed design and a wide range of new functionalities. The update offers a smoother and more seamless user experience, and it significantly improves ease of use, efficiency, and overall functionality. It also reflects a broader commitment to customer convenience, especially for public transport users across Dubai. Consequently, the new version strengthens nol Pay’s role as an essential digital payment tool.
The launch marks the first phase of a larger project to modernize the nol system using Account-Based Ticketing technologies. Furthermore, the update aims to align the interface with the unified digital design across government services while supporting the ‘Services 360’ policy. This policy works to integrate services, simplify procedures, remove unnecessary steps, and reduce transaction times, ultimately improving flexibility and overall quality of life.
Streamlined Services and New Features
The upgrade supports ongoing efforts to advance the Zero Bureaucracy Program. As part of this initiative, the new app introduces a comprehensive set of features that offer greater control and simplicity. Users can manage family members’ nol cards, submit applications for children, link or deactivate individual cards, and recharge balances more easily. They can also schedule automatic top-ups with chosen amounts and intervals, which helps maintain uninterrupted travel access.
Additionally, the app now sends proactive notifications to remind users to top up low balances, renew cards, or extend pass validity ahead of time. The platform enables instant balance inquiries, immediate card top-ups, and the fast purchase of travel passes. Moreover, users can complete mobile phone balance top-ups through integrated in-app services. The app also supports digitizing nol cards on Samsung and Huawei devices, allowing payments across transport modes and retail outlets with a simple tap.
Digital Adoption and Impact
By the end of 2024, more than 33,000 digital cards had been sold, resulting in an increase of over 460 percent compared to the previous year. Additionally, the app recorded 1.5 million downloads, which marked a rise of more than 150 percent from 2023. These milestones demonstrate strong user adoption and growing trust in digital transport solutions.
The enhanced nol Pay app contributes to a broader mission to deliver convenient, innovative, and technology-driven services for residents and visitors. As a result, it continues to strengthen accessibility, improve overall efficiency, and support Dubai’s growing public transport ecosystem.
