Remarkable Launches Paper Pro Move Compact Color Notepad

Remarkable Paper Pro Move tablet

A year after launching the 11.8-inch Paper Pro, Remarkable has introduced the Paper Pro Move, a smaller digital notepad designed for portability. With its 7.3-inch color E Ink screen, the device is closer in size to a slim paperback novel. Despite the compact frame, when rotated sideways, the display offers writing space that feels comparable to the larger model.

The Paper Pro Move is available to order now for $449, which includes the company’s magnetic Marker stylus. A $499 bundle is also offered with the upgraded Marker Plus that features an eraser button. Remarkable will continue to sell the larger Paper Pro at $629, so although the Move is much smaller, the price difference is not as dramatic.

Design, Performance, and Display

Measuring 7.7 inches tall and 4.24 inches wide, the Paper Pro Move is about the size of an iPad Mini but one inch narrower. It is slightly thicker but weighs less than half as much as the Paper Pro. While both devices come with 64GB of storage, the Move runs on a slower 1.7GHz dual-core Cortex-A55 processor and uses a 2,334mAh battery. According to Remarkable, this battery still lasts up to two weeks.

Unlike Amazon and Kobo devices that rely on Kaleido screens, the Paper Pro Move employs E Ink’s Gallery 3 technology. This custom 7.3-inch panel produces more vivid and accurate colors by blending four ink particle shades. However, the trade-off comes with slower refresh rates, which some users may notice.

Remarkable also offers Folio-style cases in various colors and materials for added protection and personalization.

Software and New Tools

The Paper Pro Move focuses on notetaking rather than e-reading. It does not provide access to online bookstores, and document support is limited to PDFs and ePub files. Its front light is dimmer than many other E Ink devices. Still, it includes a wide range of templates, note-to-text conversion for email sharing, and annotation capabilities.

In addition, Remarkable plans to introduce new features beginning with the Move. These include a repositionable on-screen toolbar and improved search for handwritten notes. While basic tools such as handwriting conversion and third-party cloud storage integration are included, more advanced features will require a subscription to the Connect service. After a 100-day free trial, the subscription costs $2.99 per month and unlocks extras like Slack sharing, mobile app editing, and handwriting search.
