RAK roads to install 20 smart gates for advanced monitoring

Authorities in Ras Al Khaimah have initiated the installation of smart gates along the main roads of the emirate, as announced on Sunday. These gates, powered by artificial intelligence, are seamlessly connected to the police operations room.

Under the leadership of Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, the Ras Al Khaimah Police Commander-in-Chief, a total of 20 smart gates will be strategically placed in key locations. Equipped with intelligent cameras, these gates will continuously monitor traffic flow and swiftly detect any accidents or collisions. Furthermore, overhead screens will provide real-time updates to motorists regarding weather conditions or incidents occurring ahead on the road. By enabling prompt awareness and response, these smart gates will enhance the efficiency of the police in addressing accidents and emergencies.

This initiative forms an integral part of the second phase of Ras Al Khaimah’s ‘Safe City Project’. The ongoing project entails the integration of these smart gates with a network of 10,000 smart cameras spread across Ras Al Khaimah. The initial phase of the project involved the deployment and enhancement of a comprehensive “smart security and traffic control system” across vital areas within the emirate. Ultimately, the project’s overarching objective is to activate an advanced AI-powered security system, bolstering public safety and law enforcement efforts in Ras Al Khaimah.
