Qualcomm unveiled a range of chips for PCs and phones, highlighting its newest laptop chip, the Snapdragon X2 Elite. This processor, set to ship next year, introduces Guardian, a feature designed specifically for business users. The company has been pushing into the PC market for two years, aiming to challenge Apple and Intel by offering energy-efficient chips that run on Windows systems.

Guardian Security Feature for Enterprises

Guardian will allow corporate IT departments to connect securely to machines for updates or technical support, even if devices are powered off. Unlike existing solutions, this feature is paired with Qualcomm’s modem chips, enabling global management of PCs through 5G and mobile networks. Consequently, businesses can maintain control and visibility over their fleets almost anywhere with cellular coverage.

Industry Impact and Market Potential

Intel has long dominated the corporate PC space with similar management features. However, Qualcomm’s approach could appeal to enterprises seeking more flexible and mobile-ready options. Analysts suggest this integration of connectivity and security sets Qualcomm apart in the enterprise computing market, strengthening its position as competition for large-scale PC deployments intensifies.
