Porsche Taycan GTS Achieves Guinness World Record for Longest Ice Drift by an EV

Porsche has once again demonstrated the capabilities of its Taycan lineup by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest continuous ice drift by an electric vehicle. On January 14, 2025, Porsche Experience instructor Jens Richter completed 132 laps in a controlled oversteer, covering an impressive 17.503 kilometers in just 46 minutes at the Porsche Arctic Center in Levi, Finland.

The record attempt faced initial setbacks as the intense stress of continuous drifting degraded the 59-meter ice track, forcing an early halt at 11 kilometers. However, after adjusting to shorter spike tires and taking advantage of lower nighttime temperatures, Richter successfully executed a flawless drift, surpassing the previous record of 14.809 kilometers.

“This achievement underscores the Taycan GTS’s exceptional chassis and balance, proving its precision even in extreme conditions,” said Jens Richter.

The Guinness World Records adjudicator Carl Saville officially validated the record, utilizing a professional GPS tracking system to monitor distance, throttle input, steering angle, and G-forces. Notably, the Taycan GTS remained in stock configuration, equipped with Michelin tires featuring 1mm spikes.
