Phantom Centenary Private Collection Marks 100 Years of Luxury and Design Excellence
Marking 100 years of Phantom’s extraordinary heritage, the Centenary Private Collection stands as a limited edition of only 25 vehicles. This collection embodies both tradition and forward-thinking artistry. Designers, engineers, and artisans spent years refining every detail, ensuring each model tells the story of Phantom’s evolution.
They immersed themselves in the spirit of every generation, from the 1920s onward. As a result, 77 motifs emerged each representing a pivotal chapter in the Phantom’s journey. These motifs appear throughout the car’s design, bridging the marque’s past and future. Furthermore, the exterior radiates timeless sophistication. Its two-tone finish, combining Super Champagne Crystal over Arctic White and Black, produces an iridescent shimmer through a technique involving crushed glass particles.
Crowning this masterpiece, the Spirit of Ecstasy has been reinterpreted from the original 1925 design. Cast in solid 18-carat gold and plated with 24-carat gold, it bears a special centenary hallmark. Additionally, the signature badges on every side are rendered in white enamel and gold. Each of the 25 disc wheels features engraved lines that together represent Phantom’s 100-year journey.
“The Rolls-Royce Phantom Centenary Private Collection is our tribute to 100 years of the world’s most revered luxury item… culminating in a motor car which reaffirms Phantom’s status as a symbol of ambition, artistic possibility, and historical gravitas.”
— Chris Brownridge, Chief Executive
A Century of Artistry in Motion
Inside, the collection reveals the narrative of Phantom’s legacy through layers of texture, color, and symbolism. Designers fused leather and fabric to evoke the early Phantoms, when chauffeurs sat on durable leather while passengers reclined in plush fabrics. This balance between authority and serenity remains integral.
The rear seats alone required more than 160,000 stitches. Inspired by the 1926 “Phantom of Love,” they combine printed imagery with intricate embroidery. Developed in collaboration with a couture atelier, the textile showcases three artistic layers: historical scenes, iconic models, and abstract representations of seven notable owners. Each stitch was precisely placed to create a hand-drawn effect.
“Conceived as a contemporary interpretation of a handwoven tapestry, the rear seats tell Phantom’s story through carefully curated details… This reflects the deep personal pride we felt in creating a fitting tribute to the Phantom nameplate.”
— Celina Mettang, Bespoke Colour and Material Designer
The front seats continue this narrative through laser-etched linework, symbolizing the draftsman’s art. Motifs such as a rabbit and seagull recall codenames tied to pivotal prototypes. Together, these details link past craftsmanship with present-day artistry.
At the heart of the cabin, the Anthology Gallery captures a century of acclaim. Fifty 3D-printed aluminium fins interlace like the pages of a book, each inscribed with sculptural text illuminated by shifting light. As one moves, reflections transform, creating a living artwork that echoes Phantom’s enduring prestige.
“Having the privilege to pay a Bespoke tribute to the Phantom nameplate is a once-in-a-generation opportunity… The result is a true collective work of art that celebrates the skill, ambition and imagination of everyone at the Home of Rolls-Royce.”
— Martina Starke, Head of Bespoke Design
A Golden Tribute to the Future
The woodwork within the collection represents a major technical achievement. Crafted from stained Blackwood, the panels depict landscapes tied to Phantom’s history. The intricate artistry combines laser etching, 3D marquetry, and 24-carat gold-leaf roads that trace journeys across continents. Remarkably, gold squares as thin as 0.1 micrometres form these luminous paths.
“We drew on an extraordinary range of sources – original texts, diaries, photographs and paintings to create a composition that weaves together many threads of Phantom’s story.”
— Katrin Lehmann, Bespoke Colour and Material Designer
This theme continues through the cabin, where embroidered maps extend the golden routes across leather panels. The starlight headliner adds another dimension, with 440,000 stitches forming constellations and symbols from Phantom’s legacy mulberry trees, bees, and tributes to past icons.
Every detail, from the gold-dusted Piano Black veneer to the V12 engine cover finished in Arctic White and 24-carat gold, reinforces the spirit of excellence. The result is more than a motor car, it is a timeless narrative in motion, expressing a century of creativity and devotion.
“Phantom Centenary is the most intricate and technologically ambitious Private Collection ever undertaken… The surfaces read like a book revealing 100 years of Phantom’s history, rich with symbolic references for clients to admire and decipher over many years to come.”
— Phil Fabre de la Grange, Head of Bespoke
