Parkin has launched the first phase of its smart parking camera system across Dubai, marking a major step in the emirate’s smart mobility transformation. The initiative aims to improve parking efficiency, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance the overall driver experience.
The rollout includes more than 500 AI-powered curb and pole-mounted parking cameras across key locations, including Trade Centre 1, Burj Khalifa, and Al Corniche. According to the company, the curb-side camera technology is the first of its kind in the region.
How the smart parking system works
The AI-enabled system uses advanced camera technology to capture vehicle images and automatically read number plates. It also tracks entry and exit times, calculates parking duration, processes payments, and detects parking violations.
In addition, the company has started deploying parking lot cameras in controlled parking zones across Dubai. Around 200 more cameras are expected in the next phase, further expanding the smart infrastructure.
All camera systems will run on solar power. Therefore, the project supports both digital innovation and sustainability goals.
The system also provides real-time parking occupancy monitoring. As a result, drivers can locate available parking spaces faster, reducing time spent searching in busy areas.
Moreover, the entire network will integrate with the Parkin App. Users will therefore be able to make automatic payments through the Parkin Wallet, creating a faster and more seamless parking experience.
Supporting Dubai’s smart mobility vision
The rollout is expected to improve parking turnover while strengthening enforcement efficiency across high-demand urban zones. Consequently, the initiative could help ease congestion caused by drivers circling for parking.
Parkin CEO Eng. Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali stated that, “This rollout marks an important step in scaling our smart parking infrastructure and strengthening how customers interact with parking across the Emirate. We remain focused on enabling more efficient access to parking and ensuring seamless management for customers across every aspect of their parking journey, while supporting Dubai’s vision for smarter and more connected urban mobility.”
