Ooredoo Group is expanding into artificial intelligence infrastructure with an $800 million investment in Zankore. The dedicated AI compute and neocloud platform will launch in Indonesia. Moreover, Ooredoo will serve as Zankore’s founding shareholder and lead investor, holding a 49 percent stake.

The investment will support Zankore’s launch and initial development. Furthermore, Ooredoo expects the venture to contribute about $600 million in cumulative EBITDA over its first five years. The company also expects the project to increase digital infrastructure earnings and expand its exposure to hard-currency infrastructure revenue.

Zankore targets major AI computing capacity

Zankore will operate through a partnership involving Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Nokia, and NVIDIA. Together, the companies will combine telecommunications expertise, AI computing, networking, and digital infrastructure capabilities.

The platform targets up to 1 gigawatt of NVIDIA DSX AI Factory capacity. Initially, Zankore plans to deliver around 200 megawatts of AI capacity during the first half of 2027. In addition, the initial capacity will support growing demand from enterprises, governments, hyperscalers, and AI developers across Southeast Asia.

The venture also has ambitious financial targets. According to reports, Zankore could generate about $13 billion in revenue and $9 billion in cumulative EBITDA over five years. Meanwhile, Ooredoo expects approximately $600 million in proportionate EBITDA contribution based on current estimates.

Ooredoo strengthens its digital infrastructure strategy

Ooredoo CEO Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo said: “Over recent years, we have systematically built one of the MENA region’s leading digital infrastructure portfolios. With Zankore, we are taking the next logical step by adding AI compute to that portfolio, extending our approach into the high-growth Southeast Asian market.”

Consequently, the investment marks a broader shift in Ooredoo’s strategy from traditional telecommunications toward digital infrastructure. The company is also building capabilities across connectivity, data centers, and AI computing.

With Indonesia as its launch market, Zankore could eventually expand across Southeast Asia. Therefore, the platform gives Ooredoo a larger role in the region’s rapidly growing AI infrastructure market.
