Nvidia and Toyota have expanded their long-standing partnership to bring artificial intelligence beyond autonomous vehicles into robotics, smart cities, intelligent traffic systems, and advanced manufacturing. The broader collaboration builds on their existing work in automotive AI and reflects both companies’ ambitions to deploy physical AI across multiple industries. Consequently, the partnership now extends from connected vehicles to AI-powered infrastructure and industrial automation.

The expanded initiative combines Nvidia’s full-stack AI platform with Toyota’s expertise in mobility, manufacturing, and urban innovation. Moreover, the companies plan to integrate AI directly into physical systems, enabling smarter factories, more efficient transportation networks, and next-generation robotics.

AI Powers Vehicles, Factories and Smart Cities

Toyota will continue developing next-generation vehicles using Nvidia DRIVE AGX and the safety-certified DRIVE OS platform to deliver advanced Level 2++ driver-assistance capabilities. At the same time, the automaker will broaden its use of Nvidia’s AI technologies across manufacturing operations and intelligent city infrastructure. Therefore, the collaboration supports Toyota’s strategy of creating connected ecosystems rather than focusing solely on autonomous driving.

In addition, NVIDIA will supply AI hardware, accelerated computing platforms, and software that enable real-time decision-making across vehicles, robots, and industrial systems. These technologies will help optimize factory automation, improve traffic management, and support AI-driven mobility services. As a result, Toyota can deploy a unified AI architecture across multiple business operations.

Physical AI Becomes the Next Growth Area

Nvidia describes the expanded collaboration as part of its broader push into physical AI, where intelligent systems interact directly with the real world. “We are expanding our partnership to advance physical AI across not only automotive but also robotics and smart cities,” said Deepu Talla, Nvidia’s Vice President of Robotics and Edge AI.

The initiative also reflects growing demand for AI outside traditional data centers. Instead, companies are increasingly embedding AI into vehicles, factories, robots, and urban infrastructure to automate complex tasks and improve operational efficiency. Consequently, Nvidia continues to strengthen its position as a leading provider of AI computing platforms for the automotive and industrial sectors.

Partnership Supports Future Intelligent Mobility

Toyota and Nvidia have collaborated on automotive AI technologies for more than a decade. However, the latest expansion significantly broadens the partnership’s scope by integrating AI across transportation, manufacturing, and smart city ecosystems. This approach enables Toyota to accelerate digital transformation while creating connected environments that combine intelligent mobility with industrial automation.

As investment in physical AI continues to grow, partnerships between technology companies and automakers are becoming increasingly important. Therefore, Nvidia and Toyota aim to develop scalable AI solutions that enhance safety, productivity, and sustainability across a wide range of real-world applications.
