Nintendo Switch 2 Arrives In-Store at Best Buy on July 1st

Starting July 1, Best Buy will stock the Nintendo Switch 2 at multiple retail locations across 45 U.S. states. Since the console’s release on June 5, demand has consistently outpaced supply. However, this in-store restock offers another opportunity for those who missed out. Unlike earlier waves of availability that appeared sporadically online, this drop requires buyers to visit in person. That said, avoiding online checkout issues may be a welcome change for many.

Several Best Buy stores will carry either the standalone console at $449.99 or the Mario Kart World bundle at $499.99. The Verge has contacted Best Buy for clarification on which version will be more widely available. Updates will follow once that information is confirmed. For a full list of participating stores, customers can visit Best Buy’s Switch 2 landing page.

No Online Queues This Time

Although the console won’t be available for online purchase, walking into a store may actually prove easier. Online drops frequently resulted in crashes or extended wait times. Thankfully, this approach avoids both. If you’re planning to buy one, checking with your local store ahead of time may help secure a unit without hassle.

Even with limited availability during its first month, the Switch 2 has broken records. It has already become the fastest-selling console of all time, moving over 3.5 million units in just four days. This success highlights how strong the demand has remained since launch.

An Upgrade Worth the Wait?

The Nintendo Switch 2 features several notable improvements. For instance, its 7.9-inch 1080p LCD display marks a significant upgrade from the original’s 6.2-inch 720p screen. Additionally, the new magnetic Joy-Con controllers enhance the overall experience. Combined with performance boosts under the hood, these changes have impressed many users.

As Andrew Webster from The Verge put it in his review, the Switch 2 is “exactly good enough.” While not a revolutionary leap, the enhancements are meaningful—especially for those who use the device both docked and handheld. Considering the continued hype and quick sellouts, the console clearly resonates with fans.
