Real-time data Harnessing in education

Real-time performance data in education offer much-needed tracking of program activities and instructors’ and students’ development, allowing for more informed changes along the way. This research presents an overview of some of the main factors for real-time data gathering in education, with a special emphasis on the digital tools that enable it. Importantly, the research team have created a typology of tools and selection criteria to assist policymakers, practitioners, and researchers worldwide in building new tools or choosing from the landscape of existing ones.

Earlier this month, the Queen’s speech outlined ambitious goals to assist every school in becoming a Trust by 2030. As part of efforts to raise standards, the school’s Bill confirms plans made in the Schools White Paper to move toward a “family of schools” model.

As Trusts grow in size, in terms of the number of students, staff, and physical facilities, it will be more necessary than ever for leaders to have access to the critical, centralized data and information required to improve students’ life chances and create great working environments for employees.

However, bulky, outdated technology stacks and diverse systems are detrimental to many Trusts. They obstruct leaders from gaining the real-time insight they require to make smart decisions for the benefit of staff, students, and the Trust. Adopting cloud technology has been difficult, exacerbating the situation and leaving teachers and Trust-level personnel victims of constant admin labour and segregated data.

Cloud-based technologies are essential for educators who want to be more productive and engage in meaningful, impactful work in today’s digital-first, real-time society. The moment has come for Trusts to leverage the power of real-time data.

Trusts’ tech is hampering performance.

As Trusts expand in size and geographical spread, school systems and processes that can cope with the size and scale of a modern Trust become increasingly important.

The time it takes to extract and evaluate data from many sources impedes trust enhancement. MATs are frequently left to manually centralize data to provide relevant insights, diverting important time away from what matters most – boosting students’ life opportunities. According to research, 44% of instructors and school officials did not have applications to capture work and assessments, and only 39% allowed parents to view student data.

Trusts are data-rich yet data-poor. Data-rich because Trust leaders receive many reporting requests from various schools. However, because of separate systems, these take weeks to compile, and hence the information contained inside them is already out of date by the time leaders get around to reading them. Trusts are data-poor without current and accurate centralized data. It’s nearly impossible to gauge the impact of changes like a new attendance policy or a rewards and sanctions system.

What is required is a laser-like emphasis on adopting effective, user-friendly EdTech to assist Trust leaders in navigating changes today and tomorrow through centralized data, allowing them to make the best decisions for each kid, school, and teacher.

In the long run, using cloud technology and the real-time intelligence it provides will benefit everyone. It provides an easy way to see the extent of need across all schools. As the market expands, MATs will have abundant data that only real-time analysis and centralization can help turn into actionable knowledge. Leaders will be unable to make the best-informed decisions without this actionable insight, and Trusts’ reputations may suffer as a result.

The real-time insight cloud platform provides leaders with a comprehensive view of the Trust. This is incredibly significant since it enables teachers to provide a better and more organized education to kids in any situation. It also allows for making more informed decisions about individual students or a school’s overall performance.

Furthermore, real-time insight can expose inefficiencies across specific schools within a Trust and give the data required to build a well-streamlined manner of functioning. It can also encourage conversations among co-workers, allowing Trusts to shift their focus from organizing data to using it to make key decisions, allowing them to generate significant change as they embark on their growth path.

The School Bill’s implications will facilitate growth, and real-time data will provide Trust with insight. In less time, trusts may generate more assessable and understandable reporting, display, and representation of centralized data. Leaders and teachers may gain a holistic view of Trust data by tracking trends over time and drilling down at the school or pupil level, revealing the true story behind the numbers and making the best, informed decisions.
