The new Apple TV 4K introduces Siri AI, faster processing, hands-free voice controls, and an enhanced home theater experience. Moreover, the fourth-generation streaming device expands smart home capabilities and introduces new entertainment features.
The device features an A19 chip, three far-field microphones, and support for a four-speaker surround sound setup. Additionally, it introduces a redesigned Siri experience powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence.
Pre-orders begin October 14, 2026, while retail availability starts November 13. The new Apple TV 4K costs $299 in the United States, with a six-month payment option of $49.83 per month.
“The new Apple TV 4K is our most immersive home theater experience yet,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “With Siri AI, finding something to watch becomes a full-screen, conversational experience, and with built-in far-field microphones, it’s completely hands-free. Pair it with HomePod for the best surround sound setup we’ve ever offered, and it makes managing your Apple Home accessories easier than ever. Now, alongside HomeView, HomePod mini 2, and Apple Home Collection, it’s part of the most connected Apple Home we’ve ever built.”
Siri AI Introduces Conversational Search and Hands-Free Control
Siri AI transforms how viewers discover movies, television shows, and other entertainment. Instead of relying on traditional searches, users can ask conversational questions and receive personalized recommendations.
For example, viewers can ask which Apple TV shows won Emmy Awards this year. Siri AI then displays relevant titles with poster artwork and additional viewing suggestions.
Furthermore, users can ask follow-up questions without leaving their current program. They can explore filming locations, check age suitability, or request additional information about a show.
During playback, Siri AI presents responses through a compact overlay. As a result, viewers can access information without significantly interrupting their entertainment.
The assistant also supports personal context when paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone. For instance, users can request a show that someone previously recommended to them.
Meanwhile, three built-in far-field microphones enable completely hands-free voice commands. Advanced echo cancellation helps Siri recognize commands even when television audio plays in the background.
Consequently, users can search for content, manage playback, and control connected devices without reaching for the remote.
Siri AI will initially launch in beta across eight English-speaking markets, including the United States, India, Australia, and Canada. It also supports Apple TV 4K models from the second generation onward.
A19 Chip Delivers Faster Performance and Four-Speaker Surround Sound
The new Apple TV 4K uses the A19 chip to improve navigation, streaming, and overall responsiveness. Specifically, it delivers up to 50% faster CPU performance than its predecessor.
Additionally, GPU performance increases by up to two times, supporting smoother animations and more responsive interactions.
The processor also includes a dedicated AV1 decoder. Consequently, users can enjoy efficient, high-quality video streaming while consuming less bandwidth.
Beyond processing improvements, the device introduces a more advanced home theater configuration.
For the first time, users can connect four HomePod speakers to create a surround sound system. The setup supports HomePod mini 2 or second-generation HomePod speakers, provided the front and rear pairs match.
Furthermore, the speakers automatically identify their positions within the room. The system then adjusts audio timing and volume levels to suit the surrounding space.
This automated calibration helps deliver a balanced listening experience without requiring complicated manual adjustments.
The Siri Remote also gains new location-tracking capabilities. With Find My support, users can locate their remote through Precision Finding or trigger an audible alert.
Additionally, the remote maintains its familiar design and supports Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K devices.
Smarter Home Features, Entertainment Options and Privacy
The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K also functions as a central hub for connected home devices.
Through Siri AI, users can control accessories, activate scenes, and manage smart home functions using voice commands. Moreover, built-in Wi-Fi and Thread support improve connectivity with compatible devices.
When paired with a supported smart doorbell, the television can display visitor notifications directly on screen. Users can then communicate with visitors or control compatible door locks without leaving their entertainment.
Additionally, Apple Intelligence introduces automated camera activity descriptions and summarized notifications within the Home app.
The device also supports home automations, guest mode, and local processing for HomeKit Secure Video.
Beyond smart home controls, Apple TV 4K provides access to several entertainment and lifestyle services.
For example, Apple Fitness+ transforms the television into an interactive workout display. Meanwhile, Apple Arcade and the App Store offer gaming experiences on the big screen.
The Apple TV app provides original films, television series, and selected live sports programming. These include Formula 1 in the United States, Major League Soccer, and Friday Night Baseball.
Furthermore, users can make FaceTime calls through Continuity Camera and display personal photographs on their televisions.
New photo customization options allow users to create personalized Memories & Slideshows and Portraits screen savers. Importantly, they can do so without exposing their entire photo library.
A new screen saver shuffle feature also rotates automatically between different categories.
Privacy remains another major focus of the updated streaming device.
The A19 chip introduces Secure Exclaves that isolate microphone data processing from other system functions. Consequently, the architecture adds protection for sensitive information.
Siri AI also uses on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute for eligible requests. According to the announced privacy architecture, cloud-processed data remains inaccessible to outside parties and is not stored.
Similarly, HomeKit Secure Video footage maintains end-to-end encryption.
The device also incorporates recycled materials across several components. These include 100% recycled gold plating and tin solder in Apple-designed printed circuit boards.
Additionally, its magnets contain 100% recycled rare earth elements, while the thermal module uses 80% recycled aluminum. The Siri Remote enclosure also contains 100% recycled aluminum.
The packaging uses entirely fiber-based materials and supports recycling.
The new Apple TV 4K will become available in stores on November 13 across the United States and other participating markets. Meanwhile, the updated Siri Remote will also be available separately.
