Microsoft Unveils Two New AI Copilot+ PCs
Microsoft has introduced two new entries in its Copilot+ PC series, marking a fresh chapter in AI-powered personal computing. A newly designed 12-inch Surface Pro and an upgraded 13-inch Surface Laptop are set to enhance user flexibility while offering robust performance.
A Smaller Surface Pro with Bigger Capabilities
With portability in mind, Microsoft has launched a 12-inch version of its popular 2-in-1 Surface Pro. Though smaller than its predecessors, this model retains full functionality. It can easily switch between tablet and laptop modes, thanks to its built-in adjustable kickstand and detachable keyboard.
The updated design now includes a magnetically attached Slim Pen that charges while docked on the rear of the tablet, a convenient shift for creatives and students alike. Microsoft calls it the “thinnest and lightest” model in the Copilot+ PC range, positioning it as an ideal device for those frequently on the move.
Surface Laptop Gets a Refresh with Snapdragon X Plus
Meanwhile, the 13-inch Surface Laptop joins the lineup with thoughtful upgrades. Transitioning away from its proprietary charger, Microsoft now offers USB-C fast charging as standard. The laptop also boasts the longest battery life of the series so far, an important feature for productivity-focused users.
Both the Surface Pro and the Surface Laptop are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus processor. According to Microsoft, this chip enables the new Surface Laptop to outperform Apple’s MacBook Air M3, highlighting a significant leap in processing power.
To complement the internal upgrades, new color options Violet and Ocean have been introduced, alongside the returning Platinum finish.
Availability and Pricing
Preorders for both devices are now live on Microsoft’s website. The Surface Pro starts at £799 GBP / $799 USD, while the refreshed Surface Laptop begins at £899 GBP / $899 USD. They officially launch on May 20 in the U.S. and June 10 in the U.K.
While competition in the AI-powered PC market intensifies, Microsoft’s latest offerings suggest the company is firmly committed to delivering portable power with practical design.
