Microsoft Commits $15 Billion to UAE AI Expansion
Microsoft plans to increase its total investment in the United Arab Emirates to $15 billion by the end of 2029. This expansion aligns with the UAE’s national vision to position itself as a leading global hub for artificial intelligence. A significant portion of this funding will go toward expanding AI data centers across the country, ensuring sufficient computing capacity to meet rising regional demand.
The company’s ongoing projects highlight its commitment to supporting the UAE’s rapidly growing digital and AI ecosystem. With AI development accelerating, this move enhances the nation’s technological infrastructure and strengthens collaboration between U.S. and Emirati entities in the tech sector.
Expanding Data Center and Chip Capacity
The technology giant recently received approval to export advanced Nvidia chips for its data centers in the UAE. This decision allows the company to utilize tens of thousands of high-performance GPUs to boost computing power and AI model training.
In addition, Microsoft’s partnership with Abu Dhabi-based AI company G42 is central to this expansion. The collaboration includes technology integration and compliance with international AI development standards. These efforts not only support regulatory cooperation but also help maintain secure and transparent technology transfer between the U.S. and the UAE.
The latest approvals cover advanced GPUs such as Nvidia’s A100, H100, H200, and GB300 chips. They will be delivered to UAE data centers within the coming months to strengthen Microsoft’s AI and cloud operations.
Billions Committed to AI and Cloud Expansion
Between 2023 and 2025, Microsoft will have invested $7.3 billion in the UAE, with an additional $7.9 billion scheduled through 2029. This funding will fuel ongoing and future projects aimed at expanding AI and cloud infrastructure across multiple emirates.
Although this investment excludes the Stargate UAE project, one of the world’s largest planned data center hubs, the company’s continued financial commitment demonstrates a clear focus on scaling local technology capacity. By deepening its presence in the UAE, Microsoft reinforces its role in powering the region’s next generation of AI innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable data infrastructure.
