Meta unveiled major updates at its annual developer conference, with Hyperscape taking center stage. The platform, first previewed last year, now introduces Hyperscape Capture in Early Access. This tool allows Quest device owners to scan a room within minutes and transform it into a lifelike digital replica. While the scan is quick, rendering the room into a detailed virtual world requires several hours.
At launch, users can only create and explore their own spaces, though future updates will enable sharing through private links. Several highlighted spaces, such as kitchens, training arenas, and custom-designed rooms, showcase the technology’s potential.
Hyperscape builds on advanced techniques like Gaussian Splatting and cloud rendering, delivering immersive environments for Quest 3 and Quest 3S users aged 18 and above. The rollout begins today, but will appear gradually across devices.
New Metaverse Features and Games
Alongside Hyperscape, Meta presented a wave of new entertainment options. A lineup of fall VR games will soon be available, including superhero adventures, fantasy battles, and story-driven quests. These titles expand the VR gaming library and aim to draw in both casual players and enthusiasts.
Streaming entertainment also grows with Horizon TV’s expanded support. Platforms such as Disney+, ESPN, and Hulu will be accessible, offering a wider range of immersive media. Special partnerships bring cinematic experiences to VR, with horror films and exclusive previews featuring enhanced 3D effects.
Expanding the Digital Ecosystem
The latest announcements highlight Meta’s push to deepen user engagement in virtual spaces. With Hyperscape offering tools for creating photorealistic worlds and new partnerships delivering fresh entertainment, the company continues building momentum in the metaverse race. Gradual updates ensure users experience a steady stream of features while VR adoption accelerates worldwide.
