Mercedes-Benz Expands AI Automation With n8n Partnership

Mercedes-Benz has partnered with Berlin-based automation company n8n to deploy AI-powered workflow automation across its global operations. The rollout will support major business units, including research and development, production, sales, financial services, human resources, and IT.

The initiative aims to shift AI automation from limited pilot programs into everyday enterprise operations. With approximately 164,000 employees worldwide, Mercedes-Benz plans to broaden AI accessibility beyond technical engineering teams.

The company also structured its AI adoption strategy into three categories: users who apply AI tools daily, teams that design automated workflows, and developers building advanced AI systems. Consequently, n8n will support employees who need low-code tools for creating production-ready workflows.

Low-Code AI Supports Enterprise Operations

Mercedes-Benz has already deployed several operational use cases through the platform. These include AI-driven customer support triage, automated IT log analysis, and multi-agent sales advisory systems.

In addition, the low-code approach enables analysts and operational teams to automate workflows without extensive software development expertise. Therefore, departments across the organization can deploy AI systems more quickly and efficiently.

The rollout also aligns with Mercedes-Benz’s broader effort to integrate AI into core enterprise functions while improving operational productivity at scale.

Self-Hosted Infrastructure Strengthens Data Control

A major reason behind the partnership was n8n’s self-hosted and cloud-agnostic architecture. The deployment model allows Mercedes-Benz to maintain control over sensitive enterprise data and workflows within its own infrastructure.

As a result, the automaker can better support GDPR compliance and industry-specific regulatory requirements. The partnership also reflects growing European interest in digital sovereignty and localized AI infrastructure strategies.

To accelerate adoption, Mercedes-Benz organized a company-wide hackathon involving more than 1,500 employees from multiple business units. The strongest ideas from the event are now moving into production workflows on the n8n platform.

Founded in Berlin in 2019, n8n has grown rapidly and recently reached a valuation of $2.5 billion. The Mercedes-Benz agreement now stands among the company’s largest enterprise partnerships to date.
