Meet Figure 03: The AI Humanoid Robot Revolutionizing Household Chores

The latest humanoid robot, Figure 03, has been introduced as a general-purpose assistant meant for both home and broader use. Built with a focus on mass production, this AI-powered robot is capable of handling daily chores such as watering plants, serving meals, washing dishes, tidying up rooms, and even folding laundry.

Equipped with a redesigned sensory suite and hand system, Figure 03 also features an advanced vision module. This enables high-frequency visuomotor control that enhances its ability to function in real-time environments. Improvements in camera architecture like doubled frame rates, a 60% wider field of view, and latency reduced to one-fourth contribute significantly to this performance boost.

The robot’s ability to operate in cluttered, confined spaces is due in part to its expanded depth of field and an integrated palm camera. This addition provides critical close-range visual feedback while grasping objects in tight areas such as cupboards.

Precision in Touch and Adaptability

One of Figure 03’s standout traits is its upgraded hand design. Its softer, adaptive fingertips create greater surface contact, enabling it to securely hold objects of various shapes and sizes. Moreover, each fingertip sensor can detect minute forces as low as three grams allowing the robot to handle delicate items, even something as light as a paperclip.

Another key advancement is the robot’s ability to learn continuously. Rather than following a fixed script, Figure 03 perceives and performs actions using Helix, a proprietary AI system. This enables the robot to adjust and respond to human interaction in real-time, which makes it far more adaptable in practical use.

Built for the Real World

In a demonstration, Figure 03 successfully completed tasks like carrying dishes from a living room to the kitchen sink. This level of autonomy highlights its readiness for real-life applications. The robot stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 61 kilograms, closely resembling the size of an average adult. Despite its capabilities, it remains energy efficient charging via a wireless stand and running up to five hours per charge.

Although the robot’s launch date and price remain undisclosed, the creators have indicated that manufacturing costs will be lower than the previous model. This suggests that it could become more accessible in the near future.
