Dubai: A new set of high-resolution images captured by MBZ-SAT has been released, showcasing the satellite’s advanced capabilities and its expanding role in supporting the UAE’s space sector.

At the same time, the release marks the anniversary of the satellite’s launch and highlights its contribution to urban planning, sustainable development, and national technological advancement.

Landmark imagery supports planning and sustainability

MBRSC has stated that MBZ-SAT was launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, United States, on January 14, 2025 at 11:09 pm UAE time. Moreover, the satellite has been regarded as one of the most advanced in the region due to its high imaging accuracy and sophisticated technical systems. As a result, the UAE’s position in space-based Earth observation has been strengthened through the satellite’s performance.

In addition, the newly released images showcased major urban and architectural landmarks across the country. These included Al Maktoum International Airport and Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, as well as Qasr Al Hosn and Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi. Consequently, the images reflected the satellite’s ability to deliver precise, detailed data for urban planning projects and sustainable development initiatives.

Emirati-led development strengthens national capabilities

MBRSC has highlighted that MBZ-SAT has been developed entirely by Emirati engineers under the National Satellite Development Program. Therefore, the achievement underlines the UAE’s progress in space technologies and the successful growth of specialized national expertise. Furthermore, the project demonstrated how local talent has contributed to advanced space systems using international standards and practices.

MBRSC has noted that the satellite has played an important role in strengthening cooperation with local Emirati companies. For example, approximately 90 percent of the mechanical structure and most of the electronic units have been manufactured by national firms. As a result, this collaboration supported knowledge transfer, encouraged the localization of advanced technologies, and contributed to the national economy.
