The Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund (MBRIF), an initiative of the UAE Ministry of Finance, has partnered with the Dubai Future District Fund (DFDF) to expand funding access and support programs for high-growth-potential startups.
The partnership was established through a memorandum of understanding. Furthermore, it introduces a two-way referral system that connects eligible companies with relevant investment networks and support opportunities.
Under the agreement, MBRIF members will be reviewed for possible introductions to DFDF’s network of fund managers. As a result, eligible startups can gain access to institutional capital opportunities as they move toward later growth stages.
Strengthening startup connections and funding opportunities
Meanwhile, eligible DFDF portfolio companies will be referred to MBRIF to access suitable programs, support tools, and federal assistance channels.
Additionally, the collaboration improves links between federal and Dubai-level startup ecosystems. Therefore, companies can connect with valuable expertise, networks, and growth opportunities.
However, introductions to DFDF or its fund manager network do not represent an investment commitment from DFDF or any fund manager within its network.
The partnership also supports the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) and the We the UAE 2031 vision. These initiatives focus on encouraging innovation, improving competitiveness, and promoting sustainable economic growth.
Leaders highlight the partnership’s impact
Fatima Yousif Alnaqbi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services Sector at the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry’s representative at MBRIF, said that the partnership would strengthen links between government, industry, investors, and entrepreneurs.
“Closer collaboration between federal and emirate-level institutions will help create an environment where innovative businesses can develop, scale, and contribute to the UAE’s long-term economic priorities,” Alnaqbi added.
Nader Albastaki, Managing Director of DFDF, emphasized that, “Through this partnership, MBRIF companies gain a route into our fund manager network and to investors who can back their next stage, and our portfolio gains access to MBRIF’s support instruments. Both sides get a shorter route to what they need.”
The collaboration creates a structured pathway for startups seeking support, investment connections, and growth resources. Ultimately, it reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen the UAE’s innovation ecosystem and help businesses scale effectively.
