LG Unveils World’s Lightest 17-Inch RTX Laptop for 2026

LG Gram Pro 17 ultralight laptop

LG is previewing its 2026 Gram Pro laptops ahead of CES, and the focus is clearly on weight reduction. Specifically, the upcoming Gram Pro 17 and Gram Pro 16 are positioned as exceptionally light devices in their respective sizes. To achieve this, LG is introducing a new ultralight Aerominum material. According to the company, this material reduces overall weight while still improving strength and scratch resistance. As a result, the laptops aim to balance portability with durability rather than sacrificing one for the other.

Gram Pro 17 targets performance without gaming focus

The Gram Pro 17 will feature a 2,560 x 1,600 display, and it will pair that panel with Nvidia’s RTX 5050 laptop GPU, which includes 8GB of VRAM. LG claims it will still provide “ample performance for graphics-intensive tasks, content creation, and gaming.” However, the laptop is not intended to function as a dedicated gaming machine. Instead, while some modern games should run acceptably, most will not perform well at maximum settings. LG has not yet disclosed the laptop’s exact weight, although it has confirmed that this model will launch exclusively in the US.

Gram Pro 16 highlights display and AI capabilities

Meanwhile, the Gram Pro 16 will offer a 2,880 x 1,800 OLED display alongside Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors. Although its weight remains unannounced, LG says it will be “the lightest 16-inch laptop in its class to feature both on-device and cloud-based AI.” In addition, pricing and release dates for both models have not been shared. However, LG may be waiting until the official CES unveiling next week to reveal those remaining details.
