With iOS 26.2, Apple Podcasts gains three practical upgrades. First, the app now uses artificial intelligence to generate episode chapters automatically. However, creator-supplied chapters still take priority when available. Additionally, a new Podcast Mentions feature highlights referenced shows inside the player and transcript. As a result, listeners can quickly open and follow the mentioned podcasts without leaving the episode.
Meanwhile, Apple News introduces interface refinements to improve navigation. On the Today view, dedicated buttons now provide faster access to Sports, Puzzles, Politics, and Food. Furthermore, a new Following tab brings favorites, saved stories, and reading history into one place, while Search shifts toward discovery.
Health, EU Updates, and System Design Changes
At the same time, iOS 26.2 refines the Apple Watch Sleep Score alongside watchOS 26.2. In response to feedback, Apple adjusted scoring thresholds, making higher ratings harder to achieve and more precise. For users in the European Union, the update delivers mixed changes. On one hand, Live Translation with AirPods expands to the EU after regulatory approval.
On the other hand, Wi-Fi network syncing between iPhone and Apple Watch is removed, requiring manual sign-ins. Meanwhile, system design continues to evolve. Liquid Glass customization expands with a Lock Screen slider that adjusts clock transparency. In addition, new Liquid Glass animations appear across menus and controls, adding smoother visual transitions.
CarPlay, Safety, and Productivity Improvements
For CarPlay users, iOS 26.2 adds greater flexibility. Users can now disable pinned conversations in Messages. Moreover, some vehicles gain support for an additional widget stack, although availability varies. Beyond that, the update introduces Enhanced Safety Alerts, allowing users to manage earthquake and threat notifications more precisely.
Similarly, Freeform now supports tables, bringing more structure to collaborative canvases. Elsewhere, Accessibility gains a Flash to Alerts option, the Games app adds sorting and controller improvements, and Passwords includes an Excluded Websites menu. Altogether, iOS 26.2 delivers a broad set of refinements that improve navigation, customization, safety, and everyday usability across the system.
