IKEA expands smart home range with 21 new Matter-compatible devices
IKEA introduced a wide lineup of 21 Matter-compatible smart home products and signaled a clear push to simplify connected living. The new range spans bulbs, sensors, remotes, and smart plugs, and everything is built to work smoothly across platforms. Consequently, users can integrate these products with Google Home, Apple Home, and Amazon Alexa without committing to one system. This shift aims to make smart homes easier to build and more affordable for regular households.
However, the company has not shared any pricing or release dates, so availability may differ across regions. India-specific information might arrive later. Even with that uncertainty, the launch still marks one of the brand’s biggest smart home upgrades in years.
What Matter Compatibility Offers
Matter is a universal smart home connectivity standard created with support from major tech players such as Google, Apple, Amazon, and Samsung. Therefore, devices from different brands can work together securely and reliably. In practice, an IKEA bulb or motion sensor can connect through any supported platform with little effort.
To manage these devices, users only need a Matter-certified hub like the DIRIGERA hub. It also acts as a bridge, so older smart products continue functioning alongside new Matter-ready hardware. This approach ensures long-term compatibility and a smoother transition for households upgrading gradually.
