HONOR, the global leader in AI-driven device ecosystems, has expanded its collaboration with Google Cloud to reshape how users interact with intelligent devices. At Google Cloud Next 2025, HONOR highlighted how this partnership will drive new AI features that make mobile experiences smarter and more user-friendly.
Eric Fang, Senior Director of Product Planning at HONOR, spoke about the collaboration and its role in powering recent innovations like Magic Portal 2.0. The partnership now moves into a new phase, using Google’s Gemini large language models (LLMs) to build advanced AI features designed to enhance everyday use.
HONOR ALPHA PLAN: A Vision for AI Innovation
HONOR launched its ALPHA PLAN in March, outlining its goal to become a leading global AI device ecosystem brand. Google Cloud’s AI infrastructure plays a key role in this mission, offering the tools and support needed to bring next-generation AI capabilities to HONOR smartphones.
The two companies plan to develop advanced imaging features and cloud-based AI tools together. This ongoing partnership will allow HONOR to deliver smarter devices while keeping user needs at the centre of its innovations.
Introducing AI Outpainting and AI Eraser: Smarter Photo Editing
HONOR also unveiled AI Outpainting, an exciting addition to its AiMAGE suite. This tool, powered by Google’s Imagen model, allows users to expand photos beyond their original size by up to twice the width. It also lets users rotate and reframe images after capture, giving them more freedom and flexibility.
“AI Outpainting is a game-changer,” Fang shared. “It helps users capture the moment without worrying about framing. Our AI-generated fill blends new image areas perfectly, even in complex scenes like cityscapes and landscapes.”
HONOR also showcased AI Eraser, another powerful feature created in partnership with Google Cloud. It lets users remove unwanted objects from photos with a few taps. The AI engine then fills the space with realistic and fitting background details, making edits seamless and natural.
Making AI Tools More Accessible for All Users
HONOR is committed to bringing AI features to as many people as possible. Fang confirmed that the brand is working to include advanced tools like AI Outpainting and AI Eraser in both flagship and midrange devices.
The recently launched HONOR 400 Lite in Europe is a strong example. Despite being a mid-tier model, it includes AI Outpainting, AI Eraser, and AI Upscale — all designed to make photography and editing easy for everyone.
“Democratizing AI is at the heart of our mission,” Fang added. “We want every user to access advanced tools and unlock new creative possibilities, regardless of their device.”
Future Products: Video Generation and AI Productivity Tools
Looking ahead, HONOR is preparing to launch new AI-powered devices in May 2025. Fang revealed that these upcoming products will feature Veo, Google’s advanced video generation model. With Veo, users will be able to create motion-accurate, AI-generated videos simply by describing what they want.
In addition to creative tools, HONOR will introduce advanced office features built with Google Gemini. These new tools aim to boost productivity by offering intelligent support for day-to-day tasks, allowing users to work faster and smarter.
A Milestone for AI-Driven Mobile Experiences
HONOR’s growing partnership with Google Cloud shows its strong commitment to future-ready innovation. Together, they are developing tools that will set new benchmarks in cloud and device-based AI, making smartphones smarter, more intuitive, and more helpful.
This collaboration highlights HONOR’s belief in AI’s power to transform mobile technology and improve user experiences across the globe.
