Google Launches AI Tools to Shield Chrome Users from Scams
Google is strengthening Chrome’s security by launching AI-powered tools that detect and block scams in real time. The Enhanced Protection mode in Chrome offers users nearly double the safety of the Standard mode. Thanks to Gemini Nano’s on-device capabilities, users gain immediate insights into suspicious websites. This means scams can be blocked even if the system hasn’t encountered them before. Because the AI model quickly adapts to new scam tactics, Chrome can stay one step ahead.
Real-Time Warnings and User Control
Alongside Enhanced Protection, Google has introduced AI-powered warnings for Chrome on Android. When a notification appears suspicious, the system alerts users and gives them the choice to unsubscribe or review the blocked content. Importantly, if the alert turns out to be a false alarm, users can opt to receive future notifications from that site.
This responsive feature is designed to empower users rather than limit their experience. It balances safety with control, helping users make informed decisions while browsing or receiving alerts. Furthermore, by operating directly on devices, the AI minimizes latency and doesn’t require cloud-based data processing.

Beyond Chrome, Google is also using AI to improve search results. According to the company’s new “Fighting Scams in Search” report, its AI systems have helped detect and block 20 times more scammy pages than before. By analyzing massive volumes of web content, Google’s tools can now identify scam networks and neutralize threats before they reach users.
