Google broadens Veo 3 Video Model Access Globally

Just over 100 hours after launching, Google is expanding access to Veo 3, its viral AI video generation model. According to Josh Woodward, Vice President of Gemini at Google, users in 71 new countries can now try the technology. However, countries in the European Union remain excluded for now. Currently, Veo 3 operates only through the web version of the Gemini Pro subscription.

Gemini Pro subscribers receive a one-time trial package of ten video generations. Meanwhile, Ultra subscribers, paying $250 per month, gain access to the maximum allowed generations. Ultra users specifically focused on AI filmmaking can use Flow mode, which offers 125 monthly generations, while Pro users in Flow mode get ten generations each month. Despite this exciting expansion, some limitations remain. For example, Veo 3 only supports English audio output, and Flow mode doesn’t allow voice output when users upload their own images.

Viral Success and Creative Potential

Veo 3’s rapid rise on social media highlights its precision and quality. Since its debut, users have shared numerous demo videos that combine audio and visuals in impressive ways. One popular example shows a dachshund running through a living room and stepping outside while an ice cream truck passes by. The model’s ability to follow detailed prompts with accuracy is a key reason for its viral appeal.

However, Veo 3 also raises concerns. It enables the creation of fake videos that appear authentic, such as fabricated interviews or staged protest scenes. This ease of generating deepfake content makes it essential for viewers to critically evaluate visual media, especially from unverified sources. The technology’s progress means that what once took hours of work and expert skills now happens with a simple text prompt.

Future Plans and Industry Impact

While Veo 3 currently functions only on the web with limited language support, Google plans to expand its capabilities. Upcoming updates will include mobile access, workspace integration, and support for additional languages. These improvements aim to broaden usability and appeal to more creators worldwide.

Google’s rollout reflects growing enthusiasm for AI-generated video content but also underscores the need for responsible use. As Veo 3 sets new standards in generative AI, it simultaneously reminds us how quickly technology can blur the line between real and synthetic media. In this evolving landscape, users must remain vigilant and critical of the content they consume.
