Google has announced significant updates to its Gemini AI assistant during the Galaxy Unpacked event, aligning the platform with the launch of Samsung’s S25 series. These enhancements expand Gemini’s capabilities on Samsung Galaxy S24, S25, and Pixel 9 devices, with additional Android devices to follow in the coming weeks.

Key Updates:

  1. Gemini Live Multimodal Upgrades:
Gemini Live now supports uploading images, files, and YouTube videos during conversations, making it more versatile for brainstorming, organizing thoughts, and simplifying complex topics. For example, users can upload a picture of a school project and ask Gemini for suggestions on improvement.
  2. Expanded Compatibility and Extensions:
Gemini can now perform tasks across Samsung apps, including Calendar, Notes, Reminder, and Clock, in addition to existing integrations with Google apps like YouTube, Gmail, and Google Maps. Users can also chain multiple actions, such as finding nearby restaurants on Google Maps and sending an invitation via Google Messages.
  3. Enhanced Accessibility on Galaxy S25:
Samsung Galaxy S25 users can access Gemini by long-pressing the side button, allowing quick responses or assistance based on the content on their screen.
  4. Project Astra Integration:
Project Astra capabilities, set to debut on Galaxy S25 and Pixel phones, enable users to interact with their environment through their phone’s camera. By pointing at objects or locations, users can ask Gemini for insights or information, enhancing real-world interactions.
  5. Deep Research Feature:
Advanced users will soon gain access to Deep Research through the Gemini app, saving time by performing extensive research while on the go.

Google’s updates aim to make Gemini a more powerful and intuitive assistant for Android users, fostering seamless integration across apps and devices.
