flydubai has introduced AI-powered biometric smart gates at its Airport Operations Center. This move, in partnership with UAE-based tech firm emaratech, aims to simplify and speed up immigration checks for the airline’s pilots and cabin crew.

With real-time data integration and facial recognition, these gates offer a faster and more secure check-in process. While enhancing security, they also reduce wait times especially during peak seasons. The rollout reflects flydubai’s ongoing focus on leveraging advanced technology to streamline operations and improve employee experience.

A Collaborative Step Toward Smarter Border Control

His Excellency Thani Alzaffin, Group CEO of emaratech, said, “We are proud to partner with flydubai in pioneering a next-generation, paperless immigration experience for their crew members. Through the integration of AI-powered facial recognition technology, our smart gates seamlessly connect with both flydubai’s and immigration’s platforms, enabling real-time validation and a truly frictionless journey.”

He emphasized that this effort aligns with emaratech’s mission to make border control faster, safer, and smarter.

flydubai’s Chief Procurement & Technology Officer, Mohammed Hareb AlMheiri, also highlighted the airline’s strategic approach. “We are pleased to have partnered with emaratech to implement this innovative solution for our pilots and cabin crew. We always look for opportunities to harness the latest technologies that support our growth and operational efficiencies. The introduction of these biometric smart gates marks another step towards a more seamless, punctual and secure operation as we future-proof our systems.”

Supporting Growth and Seamless Operations

Six biometric gates are now operational at flydubai’s crew reporting facility. Serving over 1,300 pilots and 2,500 cabin crew, these gates are expected to significantly ease their daily flow.
