NFT support has been revealed by Meta with selected creators on Facebook. According to TechCrunch, Meta has started a restricted rollout that allows selected US producers to share digital assets on Facebook. The work will be categorized as “digital collectibles” and shown by artists on their profiles under a new tab, similar to Instagram, with this feature.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated the company will test NFT support on Facebook shortly. Zuckerberg claimed the test will enable cross-posting on Instagram and Facebook. The representative stated the cross-platform sharing functionality is coming shortly.
Meta’s Navdeep Singh revealed screenshots of digital collectibles. According to screenshots, you may publish NFTs on your timeline, and clicking on them will offer you facts about the collection and author.
Instagram supports Ethereum and Polygon NFTs, with Solana and Flow coming soon. Meta didn’t mention whether Facebook supports the same blockchains, although that’s probable.
Zuckerberg also stated Meta would work on 3D NFTs for Instagram Stories using Spark AR, the company’s software AR technology. Meta extended its NFT test on Instagram last week to let more authors post NFTs. Before the expansion, only chosen US creators had access.
Meta says sharing a digital treasure won’t cost anything. The company won’t yet transform digital collectible postings into ads.
Meta notes NFTs present critical environmental problems, therefore as part of its commitment to sustainability, it’s acquiring renewable energy to lessen the carbon effect of digital collectibles.
