e& UAE has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by recording a 600Mbps uplink speed on a live 5G network. This world-record performance not only reinforces the UAE’s status as a leader in advanced connectivity but also opens up transformative possibilities for digital innovation.
The record was achieved through FR1 band aggregation at 2100MHz and C-band, coupled with Uplink 3Tx (three transmit antennas). Notably, the test used a commercial Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) device and adhered fully to 3GPP Release 17 standards. This compliance ensures alignment with the 5G-Advanced roadmap, highlighting the network’s readiness for next-generation applications.
Abdulrahman Al Humaidan, Vice President of Fixed Access Network at e& UAE, emphasized that this is more than a technical achievement. According to him, the milestone is “a launchpad for businesses and individuals to reshape the digital world,” underscoring the broader impact of such high-speed connectivity.
Why Uplink Speed Now Matters Most
Although 5G has long been associated with fast download speeds, uplink performance is becoming increasingly important. Today’s digital landscape demands faster upload capabilities to support emerging applications. With 600Mbps uplink speeds, a new range of real-time and data-intensive experiences becomes feasible.
For instance, enterprises can use these capabilities to power smart factories and logistics hubs, enabling AI-driven decision-making and predictive analytics. Simultaneously, content creators will benefit by instantly uploading or streaming 8K videos to platforms like YouTube or TikTok without delays.
Moreover, cloud gamers will enjoy smoother experiences with minimal latency. Smart homes will transmit HD video and IoT data faster, ensuring seamless automation. Even virtual events and AR experiences will feel more responsive and immersive, enhancing user engagement significantly.
A Glimpse Into the Future of 5G
Built on 3GPP Release 17, this deployment blends enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) with ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC). As a result, e& UAE’s live network demonstrates what’s possible with 5G-Advanced. It showcases how real-world networks can support next-level applications that depend on ultra-fast, reliable uplink performance.
With this accomplishment, e& UAE has not only set a new global standard but also helped shape the future of mobile connectivity worldwide.
